I try not to delve into personal matters too much on this blog, but I wanted to do a quick post about Lucy passing away a few weeks ago. Some may recall that in December our two Corgis sisters turned 14, and around that time Lucy's health began to deteriorate. She had been having seizures off and on for the past two months, and Sunday, January 29th, she had a massive attack that she never quite recovered from. Her quality of life plummeted after that Sunday--her energy level was low, and she didn't show interest in her daily activities anymore. Tuesday, January 31st, Lucy fell unconscious, and passed away that afternoon.

While I love all our dogs, Lucy's death was particularly hard. The Corgis were my little shadows. Almost every day I'd take them for a ride in the car to our nearby gas station where I'd get a jerky stick to split between them. On warm days, we'd then head over to the dog pond where they would run through the shallow water, and chase after the Border Collies and Labs. Lucy always loved to keep the big dogs in line--just ask Abby. :) It only took about half an hour for Lucy to tucker out. At that point she'd finally wander back over to me. As I sat on a rock still gazing out towards Desi, Lucy would crawl under my bent legs, and fall asleep on the cool dirt.

We all miss our little Lucy, especially Desi, but life is getting back to normal. We're sure her previous owner, who passed away when the Corgis were 12, is glad to see her again. :)
