April Challenge: 5Ks

For April, I wanted to get back into some runs. Unfortunately, besides the SLC marathon, there aren't any longer races available in April. I was hoping for a 10K or maybe even a half marathon, but instead, this month I'll just focus on running 5Ks. I had a hard time justifying 5Ks for my monthly fitness challenge since running 3.1 miles is far from strenuous. But my goal is to run for time, instead of just to finish, and shave a little time off each run. The runs I have planned are:

April 4th - Run for Relief 5K

April 11th - Utah Diabetes Center 5K

April 25th - Race for Shriner's hospital

I will keep you posted about the results of each event. As far the March challenge, I am loving the daily spin classes! I can't believe how much endurance I lost while on vacation, but after a few consecutive days, I was back in the swing of things. I am feeling better than ever!

Bridals

Yep, I've been married almost a year and have not posted my professional bridal photos yet. I completely forgot until I just saw them in the closet. They are in a bound book so the few I did scan look a little rough. Anyways, enjoy!

Antelope Island

In lieu of a spin class, I thought it would be fun to break out our bikes and take advantage of the 60 degree temperature. After our morning pilates session, Troy and I headed to Antelope Island for a few hours of biking and wildlife observing.

What a fun day! I'm so thankful I live in Utah!

Race For The Cure

This week Troy and I were presented with the opportunity to join friends and family for this year's Race for the Cure 5K. I wanted to run this race last year, but couldn't due to a schedule conflict. I am excited to not only participate this year, but do it with my husband and his family. I'm ready to kick off the snowshoes and run a regular 5K! If any of you are interested in the race and free the morning of May 9th, come join us!

March Challenge: Spinning

Like last month, March was a tricky month to plan a fitness challenge. My running schedule obviously took a hit while on vacation so I didn't want to do an organized run. After two weeks of laying on the beach and far too many restaurant trips, my body is craving exercise. I have decided this month my challenge will be to complete 21 consecutive days of spinning. So, starting tomorrow at 9:00 am until April 6th, I will attend at least one spinning class per day. Yipee!

*Giggles*

I absolutely love it when Troy surprises me with flowers. Two days ago, I came downstairs to find a dozen roses on our kitchen table. Maybe he felt sorry for spreading yet another cold to me (I'm getting used to picking up illnesses from his line of work), but regardless of the motive, flowers will always be well received by me. Troy is definitely a keeper! :)

Kauai

What a wonderful two weeks! Troy and I just got back from Kauai and boy, did we have fun! My favorite part was the hiking.  We could have hiked every day and still not have seen half of the marvelous trails. Here are some pics from our time in paradise:

Wailua Falls

Hiking along the Na Pali coast

Kayaking the Wailua river

Sight seeing at the lighthouse.

Hiking the Sleeping Giant

Now I need to shake the vacation mindset and get back to work!
