Labor Day Weekend

For our extended weekend, Troy and I wanted to squeeze in one more camping trip before the snow starts to fall, but 24 hours prior to departure, the weather forecast was calling for "deadly cloud-to-ground lightning". So we set our sights on Price, our hometown. We drove down early Saturday to spend some time with family. Troy caught the BYU vs. Oklahoma game with his dad while I took all the dogs hiking up Consumers with my dad.  After church at my childhood ward and lunch with parents, Troy and I spent Sunday afternoon hiking in Nine Mile Canyon.

"The Great Hunt"

Of course there are plenty of wildlife sightings in Nine Mile. This inquisitive little deer was hopping on the rocks alongside our car.

On Monday, we met Troy's parents in Thompson Springs for some hiking.

In an attempt to keep the area preserved, not much is written about Thompson Springs. To me, that just adds to the appeal. I enjoy the adventure of not knowing what you may find.

The four of us then headed to the San Rafael Swell to discover some more pictographs. Abby, a.k.a Fat Dog, was completely tuckered after many hours of running under the desert sun.

Do You Wanna Get Rocked?

As I mentioned in a previous post, Troy bought us tickets to the Def Leppard, Cheap Trick and Poison concert for my birthday. Since I wasn't born until '85, Troy thinks it's funny I not only like this music, but know the artists better than him. During the concert he'd occasionally nudge me and whisper, "I didn't know they sang this song." And due to an illness, Poison's bass guitarist was replaced by the guitarist for Bon Jovi. In case you don't know, Bon Jovi is hands down my favorite 80s group. It was a wonderful night full of classic rock, outdated fashions and bad hair. Best birthday present ever? I think so!
