Shortly after he was brought to the shelter, the crew at Friends of Animals learned Drake has progressive bone cancer. The life expectancy for a dog in his condition is not long so he couldn't be adopted. We currently have Drake and will keep him until he passes. Luckily, for now, he is still happy and even though he has a noticeable limp, he enjoys running around the dog run and playing with our other dogs. Knowing his condition will continue to deteriorate is hard, especially since I just witnessed our family dog, Maya, die after a long battle with cancer less than two months ago, but we're happy he finally has a permanent home.

Laura, I think it is so neat that you are taking care of these sweet dogs. I am a dog lover, so I am a little jealous that you get to cuddle with all these cute little guys. Good for you for doing something good.
